El cantante mexicano Luis G. Roldán nació el 11 de octubre de 1910 en plena época revolucionaria. Siendo muy joven le gustaba cantar en fiestas familiares y también se dedicaba a pintar automóviles. Un día el maestro Don Miguel Lerdo de Tejada lo escuchó cantar y quedó impresionado con su voz por lo que lo ayudó para que cantara en la incipiente XEW en 1931, junto a la señorita Lazcano y la orquesta de Max Urban. Luis se presentó como “El cancionero anónimo”, luego fue llamado “El cancionero romántico”.
